Seems there is an interest in taking social media a step further-combining the use of Twitter and spreading the gospel to the masses. For the past year a lady from the US and most recently, a fellow from the UK, have been going through the Bible each day on Twitter.

To be able to sit down each day and provide a shortened version of that days chapter in 140 characters or less must be rewarding but at the same time excruciatingly painfull. Not to be able to put down word for word what God wants us to hear would be difficult for me to say the least. Everything God says is important so how can one decide what to Tweet?

I know in my life, I try and follow all that God has taught me  through the Bible, word for word. There have been times that I may have abbreviated in my mind certain scripture. Some things that I have summarized and used, other writing that I have put aside. I believe we have all done that a time or two. So to read Tweets that shorten up scripture should be OK. But just remember, the Bible is the most important read. We should all go back and make sure we read the full text, to really, truly know what God wants for our lives.

What an amazing opportunity it will be to see first hand where we can help Haiti today and into the future.

I will a part of a Visions Trip,  which is not a traditional missions trip, where people come with the intention of doing alot of projects. and being real productive while they visit. When our group visits, we will be spending time with the staff for Clean Water for Haiti in their work yard, learning all about and helping build, bio-sand filters. Our small group will be as involved as we like. Then travelling out into the community to see some of the installations and get a feel of where the filters are going.

As one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere, Haiti is known for an extreme level of poverty. And with the recent earthquake earlier this year, their problems have been compounded. I want to go and see this for myself. As a listener, I want to find out first-hand what I can do now and in the future to help these people.

It’s about who you make happy. It’s about kindness and generosity. It’s about holding and sharing trust. It’s about friendship. It’s about faith, integrity, and character.
Most of all, it’s about using your life to touch other people’s hearts in such a way that could have never occurred alone.
Only you can choose the way those hearts are affected, and those choices make up what your life is all about.

A beautiful young lady, Paije Clark, who my family and I have known for many years, went into the hospital on Sunday in Bellingham and ended up in ICU that evening. She was airlifted to Childrens in Seattle the next morning. Things went down hill fast. Her right lung colapsed and her left one was going that way too. They intubated her that afternoon since she was just not strong enough to breathe on her own.

Please pray for her.

Paije has Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) which is a motor neuron disease. The motor neurons affect the voluntary muscles that are used for activities such as crawling, walking, head and neck control, and swallowing. SMA affects muscles throughout the body, although the proximal muscles (those closest to the trunk of one’s body – i.e. shoulders, hips, and back) are often most severely affected. Weakness in the legs is generally greater than in the arms. Sometimes feeding and swallowing can be affected. Involvement of respiratory muscles (muscles involved in breathing and coughing) can lead to an increased tendency for pneumonia and other lung problems, such as in Paije’s case. Intellectual activity is not affected.

My daughter Micaela has SMA as well, so I know all too well the dangers of illness when it comes to things of this matter.

The last few days Paije has shown some mighty “millimetre” improvements. A testament to God’s love for this young girl. Paije has been an amazing example for all young children especially for kids with SMA.

Great things can be accomplished through the Lord, and Paije, I am sure, will continue to be healed through His love.

With the 2010 Winter Olympics coming up soon in Vancouver, Canada, a group called Bikes for Bibles is in the process of raising money to provide bibles for those without the word of God. These bibles will be distributed into the hands of thousands at the Olympics. Books include the New Testaments, the Gospel of Mark, and the Book of Hope youth magazine.
